The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold its monthly meeting on Yemen at the end of next week, to discuss the latest developments in peace efforts and the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
According to the temporary work program of the Security Council, which was adopted, Monday evening, the Council will hold On Friday, October 13, its monthly meeting on Yemen will be held in a morning consultation session.
During the consultation session, members of the Security Council are expected to listen to two briefings by the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, and a representative of the Office of Humanitarian Affairs, on Continuing efforts to revive the faltering peace process in the country, and the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the country, in light of the increasing needs compared to the chronic lack of funding for the humanitarian response plan.
The head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), Major General Michael Perry, briefed during consultations on the mission’s work progress and the implementation of its tasks in ensuring that Hodeidah Governorate is free of military manifestations and that its ports are preserved, as stipulated in the decisions of the “Stockholm Agreement 2018”.
