An international organization called on all parties to the conflict in Yemen to redouble their efforts to achieve a sustainable and comprehensive peace, stressing the need for any agreement to include the payment of salaries, the reopening of vital roads, and a plan to rebuild the economy.
Oxfam explained that the Yemeni economy is in a deplorable state, as rounds of currency depreciation have worsened due to high levels of inflation, causing a significant rise in food prices.
She indicated that hunger levels are increasing in Yemen one year after the end of the UN truce, pointing out that although the truce has largely held, political uncertainty has hindered the country's recovery.
Oxfam said that humanitarian efforts in Yemen suffer from a severe lack of funding, while a recent study showed that nearly a third of families suffer from gaps in their meals.
