Floods sweep away shelters for displaced people in Al-Jawf

Torrential rains that fell on Friday/Saturday night washed away shelters for the displaced in Al-Jawf Governorate, in the north of the country.
Local sources reported that the homes of a number of displaced people in the camps of the Al-Gharan and Al-Rayyan areas, east of Al-Jawf, were swept away by torrential rains due to the arrival of the depression.
The sources reported, “Heavy rain, accompanied by hail and winds, caused vehicle bottles to break, tents torn apart, and livestock to be swept away.”
More than 1,700 displaced families live in the camps in the Al-Gharan and Al-Rayyan areas, east of Al-Jawf Governorate.
The Meteorological Center had expected, in a statement, that the coming hours would witness rainfall of varying intensity, reaching heavy levels in the deserts, plateaus and coasts of the country, in addition to parts of the central, northern and western governorates.
