The Global Vaccine Alliance pledges to continue its support for immunization programs in Yemen for an additional three years

The Global Vaccine Alliance (GAVI) pledged to continue its support for the Expanded Immunization Program in Yemen for an additional three years, coinciding with the resurgence of the outbreak of several epidemics in the country that has been witnessing a devastating conflict for ten years.
The Minister of Health and Population in the Yemeni government, Dr. Qasim Buhaibah, said that the Global Vaccine Alliance (GAVI) agreed, during an expanded meeting held by ministers with its international partners (Monday), to continue its support for the Expanded Immunization Program at the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Yemen for the next 3 years in the amount of $25 million.
The Minister, in his blog post on the X platform, considered that this approval “is a step that will ensure the stability of the immunization program for the coming period.”
He indicated that the vaccination programs will be implemented through the ministry’s partners (the World Health Organization and UNICEF).
Yemen is witnessing a new outbreak of cholera, dengue fever, and childhood diseases such as polio, diphtheria, and other diseases, in light of the collapse of the health system in the country as a result of the war, and the terrorist Houthi militia continuing its war against vaccines in areas under its control, which is reflected in the health situation throughout the country.
