Mayon: The Houthis depend on summer centers to recruit children

Mayon Human Rights Organization confirmed that the Houthi summer centers are further evidence of the terrorist group’s insistence on recruiting children in areas under its control.
The Mayon Organization for Human Rights, in a statement, considered these summer centers (closed and open) an appropriate environment for ideological mobilization and recruitment, stressing that children receive training on the use of weapons and intensive cultural courses, which represent a flagrant violation of the right to a safe childhood.
The statement added: Through our human rights work over the past years, we confirm that the Houthi militias deal with school students (and Yemeni children in general) as a constant source and resource for supplying fighters, and the militias’ media channels often publish news about batches of children who have graduated from military courses. And summer centers, and provides popular armed shows for recruits.
According to the statement, “The organization sees the Houthi militias’ insistence on establishing centers and summer camps as an indication of their continued recruitment of children, in violation of all commitments and pledges, the most recent of which was the “Action Plan” agreement on stopping the recruitment of children and the signing with the United Nations in 2022.”< /p>
