A young girl was stabbed with a knife by her uncle, yesterday, Wednesday, in Lahj Governorate, after she refused to marry his son.

The girl's mother reported to the police that her uncle stabbed her daughter in the upper abdomen with a white weapon, after she refused to marry his son.

The girl was immediately transferred to a hospital in the capital, Aden, to receive treatment, while the police began investigating the incident to find out all the details.

According to civil and community organizations, the rates of incidents resulting from domestic violence have increased recently, especially in southern Yemen.

These organizations attribute this phenomenon to the worsening living hardship and the accumulation of crises experienced by the Yemeni citizen.
