Cholera continues to spread... 42 new cases in Aden and 7 deaths in Taiz

The cholera epidemic continues to spread in Yemen, as 42 new cases were recorded today, Thursday, in the Friendship Hospital in the capital, Aden, and 7 deaths in Taiz Governorate.
In Aden, medical sources at Al-Sadaqa Hospital, the isolation center, reported that the hospital received 42 people infected with cholera within 24 hours, and tests showed that 28 of them were confirmed cases.
The sources indicated that 7 cases arrived at the hospital on Thursday morning, all of them in difficult condition.
As for Taiz, the health authorities announced that cholera deaths had risen to 7 cases, with an accelerating spread of the epidemic.
New statistics issued by the governorate’s health office revealed that suspected cases of cholera had risen to 497 cases, including 163 laboratory-confirmed cases.
The statistics showed that deaths related to the epidemic rose to 7 cases.
In a statement, the Deputy Governor of Taiz for Health Affairs, Dr. Ilan Abdul Haq, revealed that contaminated water is one of the causes of the cholera outbreak, and that tests conducted by the central laboratory recorded that there is contaminated water used to irrigate vegetables and fruits, and that there are multiple sources for this, including: It is used in some camps or homes, and contamination in well water has also been recorded.
