New Russian statements regarding attacks in the Red Sea

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrouk, made new statements regarding the situation in the Red Sea, in light of the ongoing Houthi attacks on ships.
The Russian Foreign Minister said, on Friday, that "the situation in the Red Sea continues to worsen with the continuation of Houthi attacks on cargo ships, and American attacks on Yemeni territory."
This came - according to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry - during a phone call between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Bahraini counterpart, Abdul Latif Al-Zayani.
The Ministry reported that the two sides exchanged views, and comprehensive discussions were held on the main topics on the Middle East agenda.
She added that the meeting “focused on the issue of the ongoing escalation of tension in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area, as well as the worsening situation in the Red Sea and neighboring waters.”
Lavrov and Al-Zayani pointed out the importance of efforts to reduce escalation in the region and build a system of collective security.
Russia has previously expressed its concern about the crisis situation in the Red Sea, and its rejection of the American-British attacks on Houthi sites in Yemen.
Since November, the Houthis have targeted more than 60 commercial ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and recently expanded their operations into the Indian Ocean. They said they were targeting ships linked to Israel, which is launching a brutal attack on the Gaza Strip. But the Yemeni government and experts say that the Houthis' goals are local, to escape internal crises and improve their image in the region.
In response, since January 11, the United States and Britain have launched an air strike campaign against the Houthi group affiliated with Iran. As a result, the Houthis announced the expansion of their operations to include American and British ships.
