A commercial ship was damaged as a result of an explosion near it off the coast of Yemen

The British maritime security agency UKMTO reported on Monday that it had received a report that a commercial ship had been damaged following an explosion near it off the coast of Yemen, confirming that neither the ship nor its crew were harmed.
The British-run agency said that private security personnel informed it that “the ship was damaged,” hours after it announced that “an explosion occurred near a commercial ship” 54 nautical miles northwest of Mokha in Yemen.
She confirmed that “the ship and its crew are fine and heading to its destination.”
For its part, the “Ambry” Maritime Security Agency said, “It is likely that a ship flying the flag of Malta was targeted during a trip from Djibouti to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia” by “three missiles.”
The agency announced that it “believes that the ship was targeted due to the commercial transactions carried out by its operator with Israel.”
No party has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but this comes within the framework of the Houthis intensifying their attacks on commercial ships off the coast of Yemen in recent days, after recording a recent decline in their operations.
On Friday, an oil tanker was damaged after being exposed to a missile attack launched by the Houthis in the Red Sea.
