Al-Kuraimi, Solidarity and Commercial Banks refuse to move their headquarters to Aden

The heads of the Tadhamon, Al-Karimi, Commercial and other Yemeni banks, which still have their main centers based in Sana’a, announced that it is not possible to implement the decision of the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen No. 17 of 2024 AD to transfer all the main centers of commercial banks, Islamic banks, and local and foreign microfinance banks operating in Yemen to Aden within a specific period of two months, which ended in about a month and a half.
The heads of the three banks made it clear in their interventions via Zoom, in the government meetings represented by the leadership of the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank, and representatives of the Yemeni banks with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in the Jordanian capital, Amman, that the de facto authorities in Sana’a do not mind the banks moving their headquarters to Aden on the condition that they are handed over. All the deposits it has for customers in its northern regions, amounting to approximately two trillion riyals, cannot provide the amount under these circumstances so that it can safely transport its public headquarters from Sanaa to Aden, and Sharia, its central bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank must help it in that.. while many bank representatives were surprised. The southern government's representatives and the leadership of the Central Bank surrendered to this evasive and illegal offer from Sana'a banks and their attempt to remain silent and legitimize the demands of the representatives of those banks and their acquiescence to the impossible thuggish demands of the Houthi militias.
The heads of three of the most important Yemeni banks in Sana’a confirmed - in their interventions yesterday, via Zoom - that the Central Bank Law and the work laws of Yemeni banks clearly stipulate that banks shall take the capital, Sana’a, as the headquarters of their main centers, and that no legal amendment has occurred that allows them to move their headquarters or The legitimate government pledges to enable it to fulfill its obligations towards its clients and to provide it with the necessary support to first fulfill the return of its clients’ deposits to those wishing to withdraw them in the Houthi areas before making any decision to transfer its main centers to Aden..
This means that the governor of the internationally recognized Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed bin Ghaleb Al-Maqbi, has not succeeded in convincing the banks to transfer, which means that he now needs to study all available options to forcefully impose the implementation of the decision on them and determine the upcoming sanctions against them.
