Two dead in the explosion of a weapons depot in Marib

Two Yemenis were killed, today, Tuesday, by the explosion of an arms warehouse belonging to an arms dealer, near one of the largest displacement camps in Ma’rib Governorate, northeast of the country.
Local sources in Ma'rib Governorate said that a fire broke out in a warehouse storing various ammunition and weapons belonging to a local arms dealer, which led to its explosion, near the "Erq Al-Awsat" camp designated to host displaced Yemenis from other conflict areas, in Al-Wadi District, southeast of the Governorate. Marib.
Sources confirmed that there were casualties in the fire that spread to dozens of temporary homes for displaced people, before rescue and firefighting teams were able to extinguish it after several hours.
For its part, the "Ma'rib 360" platform on Facebook quoted a relief source as saying that the fire resulted in the death of a man and a girl, and that more than 30 homes for the displaced and the host community were completely burned, and other homes were partially damaged.
The official authorities have not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
Yemen has witnessed similar incidents due to the spread of weapons markets and warehouses in populated civilian areas, the most recent of which was in 2022, when a warehouse exploded in Abyan Governorate, in the south of the country, killing and wounding 36 people, and damaging a number of homes.
