The European Union approves additional humanitarian aid to Yemen worth 125 million euros

The European Union announced the allocation of more than 120 million euros to address the increasing humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable groups in Yemen.
The European Commission said, in a press statement, that it will provide new funding in the amount of 125 million euros (equivalent to 135 million dollars), to meet the most urgent needs of the Yemenis amid the conflict that has been ongoing for nearly a decade and the escalating tensions in the region.
The statement added that this funding, which was announced during the sixth meeting of senior officials on Yemen, in Brussels, will be directed exclusively through the European Union’s humanitarian partners, including United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations participating in response activities, and supporting vulnerable communities affected. From ongoing conflict, displacement, and climate emergencies.
The Commission indicated that the funding will support the provision of the necessary assistance to confront the crisis of food insecurity, cases of malnutrition, the deterioration of health services, and support specialized protection services, mine clearance activities, and programs dedicated to education, child protection, and others.
It is noteworthy that last year 2023, the European Commission allocated more than 145 million euros to help those affected by the conflict in Yemen. Since 2015, it has also provided about 1.5 billion euros in support to respond to the crisis in Yemen.
