United Nations: More than 32,000 Yemenis have been displaced since the beginning of 2024

The United Nations confirmed today, Thursday, that more than 32,000 people have been displaced again from their homes in Yemen since the beginning of this year, as a result of the continuation of the war that the country has been witnessing for 10 years, and climate disasters.
The United Nations Population Fund said in a recent report: “From January 2024 until the end of April, a total of 32,592 individuals were displaced due to armed conflicts and severe weather events.”
The UN report indicated that climate disasters caused the displacement of a total of 15,729 individuals, while armed conflicts caused the displacement of 16,863 individuals.
According to the report, the United Nations multi-sectoral rapid response mechanism, in cooperation with its implementing partners, was able to provide life-saving support to 98 percent of the total affected families registered with it, including 23 percent of families headed by women.
The report indicated that 3,753 affected families received one-time multi-purpose cash assistance from the International Organization for Migration, while 4,373 families were provided with one-time general food assistance from the World Food Program.
Despite the assistance provided by the United Nations, the continued flow of waves of displacement poses a danger to the displaced in light of the lack of prior governmental and UN plans to shelter the displaced.
