The Leadership Council calls for deterrent international steps to stop the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea

On Thursday, member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Abdullah Al-Alimi, called on the international community to take deterrent steps to stop Houthi attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The official Yemeni news agency (Saba) reported that “Al-Alimi received the US ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss developments in the situation in Yemen, the efforts made to bring peace to the country, and regional and international developments.”
The discussions between the two sides touched on a number of economic, service and security challenges facing the Yemeni people as a result of the criminal practices of the Houthi militias in various fields.
The discussions also addressed “the ongoing terrorist Houthi militia attacks on shipping ships and international shipping lines and their catastrophic repercussions on the living conditions of the Yemeni people, the peoples of the region and their national economies.”
