Units of the Yemeni naval forces concluded their participation in the mixed naval exercise of the countries bordering the Red Sea, “Red Wave 7,” which was launched on May 4 of this year in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the participation of branches of the Saudi Armed Forces, units of the Saudi border guards, and forces from the Kingdom. The "Red Wave 7" exercise aimed to enhance the maritime security of the countries overlooking the Red Sea, and protect territorial waters by applying assumptions that simulate different combat environments, which were planned in three planning conferences, in which officers from all participating countries participated, resulting in the formation of forces and a group. Of the exercises.
During the exercise, which lasted 6 days, the participating forces carried out many combat exercises such as surface and air warfare, electronic warfare, countering attacks by speedboats, protecting maritime shipping lines, and combating smuggling, terrorism, piracy, and illegal immigration.
During the closing event, which was held today, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Saudi Naval Forces, Lieutenant General Fahd Al-Ghufaili, the Yemeni Navy was honored with the exercise shield.
Brigadier General Yahya Al-Wael, the military attaché at our country’s embassy in Saudi Arabia, charged with commanding the naval forces participating in the exercise, explained that this exercise will contribute to developing bilateral cooperation and joint coordination between the countries overlooking the Red Sea, which contributes to enhancing maritime security and confronting common dangers. And coordinating operational and information efforts.
Al-Wael appreciated the efforts of the brothers in supporting the Yemeni armed forces and enhancing their capabilities and readiness to carry out their constitutional duties in preserving and strengthening maritime security, and in a way that qualifies them to be an effective partner in fighting terrorism and smuggling and confronting threats aimed at destabilizing national, regional and global security in the Red Sea.
