The Minister of Water and Environment inspects the site of the shipwreck of the "Rubimar" ship to assess its current condition

Today, the Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, inspected the site of the sinking of the ship “Rubimar” in the Red Sea to assess the situation and closely monitor whether shipments of pesticides and inorganic fertilizers on board the ship had begun to leak into the water.
Minister Al-Sharjabi said from the site of the shipwreck in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba): “We are here today to ensure that the ship’s surroundings and coasts are free of any pollution that may result from the leakage of fertilizer shipments from the sunken ship.”
Al-Sharjabi added, “We are closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary steps to contain any environmental pollution in the area.”
The ship sank last March, about two weeks after a terrorist attack with a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia as part of Iran's plan to militarize the Red Sea, which caused the ship to be hit from behind and then gradually sink.
Minister Al-Sharjabi was accompanied on the visit by the Executive Vice President of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs, Captain Yeslam Mubarak, the Acting Chairman of the Environmental Protection Authority, Faisal Al-Thalabi, and the Commander of the Coast Guard Sector in the Red Sea, Brigadier General Abdul-Jabbar Al-Zahzouh.
