Informed sources reported that the increase in hours of power outages in the capital, Aden, is due to about 100 megawatts being out of production service from the PetroMasila station, as a result of fuel locomotives stopping and preventing their passage at one of the newly created checkpoints belonging to the Special Forces in Abyan Governorate.
The sources indicated that the ban on the passage of locomotives was behind the Minister of the Interior, Major General Ibrahim Haidan, who issued a decision to cancel the decisions of the Governor of Abyan and the director of the governorate ordering the dismissal of the Special Forces Commander, whose force deliberately obstructed the passage of fuel locomotives in the Irqa area located between the governorates of Abyan and Shabwa. It obstructed its access to the Aden power station for the past three months.
She pointed out that the Minister of the Interior’s insistence on keeping the Special Forces Commander in place can only be interpreted as an attempt to deepen the suffering of the people of the capital, Aden, and is completely inconsistent with the government’s efforts and steps regarding the introduction of the PetroMasila station with a total capacity of 264 megawatts, which will coincide with the completion of connecting drainage lines. The energy being prepared to accommodate the generation of the 120 megawatt solar power station, which is expected to enter service before the end of this year.
