The Governor of Socotra launches two training courses for workers in the agricultural and fisheries sectors in the governorate.

The Governor of the Socotra Archipelago Governorate, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqali, today inaugurated two training courses in the fields of livestock, agricultural fodder, and a survey of the basics of fisheries in Socotra, for workers in the agricultural and fisheries sectors in the governorate.
A number of 40 male and female trainees working in agriculture, fisheries and livestock participated in the two courses, which are supported by FAO and the Global Environment Facility (JEF). The two courses aim to provide them with skills and knowledge in agricultural and fishery work within the Livelihoods and Sustainable Resilience Project in the fisheries sector and rural Yemen.
At the inauguration, Governor Raafat Al-Thaqali stressed the importance of the two courses in developing the capabilities of workers in the agricultural and fishery sectors in the governorate, which helps them improve their economic situation in more realistic ways.
He pointed to the local authority’s keenness to provide all facilities to the organizations Those working in these two sectors, including the FAO and the Global Environment Facility (JEF), implement projects that serve the island and its people in the fishery, agricultural, livestock sectors and the environment of Socotra.
The head of the FAO team in Socotra, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Kubri, a fish and fisheries specialist at FAO, explained that the two sessions were held with support and funding from FAO and the Global Environment Facility, in partnership and cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fish, Water and Environment within the project on resilience and sustainability in the activities of the fisheries sectors. agricultural and livestock sectors in order to develop the two sectors in a manner consistent with the sustainable management of natural resources and the preservation of biodiversity in the archipelago
For its part, the Director General of the Office of Agriculture and Irrigation, Engineer Yahya bin Majid, and the General Authority for Fisheries, Captain Ahmed Ali, paid tribute to the support and efforts of the FAO, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, and the governor of the governorate, the agricultural, wealth, and fisheries sectors, which are considered among the most important resources of the governorate in which he works.
