Meteorology resolves the controversy over an expected hurricane in Yemen
The Meteorological Authority denied the FAO’s climate forecasts in eastern Yemen.
The official spokesman for the Meteorological Authority, Rashid Al-Ariqi, said that the FAO did not indicate what it based its forecasts on. A hurricane may occur in Yemen in the coming days.
He pointed out that the Yemeni Meteorological Authority is constantly monitoring the occurrence of any disturbances in the Arabian Sea, and there are currently no indications of that, according to “The Spectator.”
He stressed that issuing warnings does not belong to the Organization of Agriculture (FAO), but rather is issued by the Meteorological Authority, as it is authorized to do so.
Al-Ariqi's denial comes two days after a warning from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The effects of these hurricanes reach the governorates of Al-Mahra and Socotra. . Storms occur in a number of areas in the Gulf of Aden.
The bulletin added that expectations indicate that the threat of hurricanes will continue in the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea until the end of May 2024.
