Execution of the death sentence against a man and a woman convicted of murder in Ma’rib

The Specialized Criminal Prosecution in the Ma’rib Governorate executed on Tuesday morning in the courtyard of the central prison in the city of Ma’rib the death sentence as retaliation and punishment against the convicts Saber Abu Bakr Abd al-Rahman al-Nur and Fatima Saeed Mabkhout al-Askari al-Awadi by shooting them to death for intentionally killing the victim Ahmed Dhaif Allah Embarak Daman al-Nassi. This is in Criminal Case No. CJ 11/2021 AD, the Specialized Criminal Prosecution of First Instance, Ma’rib Governorate.
The death sentence was implemented in implementation of the ruling of the Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance, Ma’rib Governorate, on 7/8/2021 AD, which ruled that they were convicted and punished with death by retaliation and punishment by firing squad until death, and was confirmed by the Specialized Criminal Court of Appeal, Ma’rib Governorate, on 2/21/2022 AD. And approved by the Supreme Court of the Republic on 9/7/2023 AD, and approved by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi on 2/13/2024 AD, and based on the directive of His Excellency the Attorney General, Judge Qaher Mustafa, to implement the ruling.
The death sentence was carried out by firing squad, after attempts to persuade and encourage the blood relatives of the victims to forgive and pardon, and after the blood relatives refused, and after the reading of the ruling and the execution document by Judge Muhammad Al-Tahiri, member of the Specialized Criminal Prosecution of First Instance, Ma’rib Governorate, and in the presence of the Head of the Criminal Appeals Prosecution. The specialist in the Ma’rib Governorate, Judge Ahmed Muhammad al-Haidari, the Chief Prosecutor of the Ma’rib Governorate Appeals Prosecution, Judge Arif al-Mikhlafi, the director of the Central Prison in the Ma’rib Governorate, a number of police officers, blood relatives, and large crowds of citizens.
These death sentences come after they had been suspended in Ma’rib Governorate for more than fifteen years, and the implementation of this ruling came after the efforts made by His Excellency the Public Prosecutor, Judge Qaher Mustafa Ali, in his keenness and speeding up the procedures by ratifying them before His Excellency the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, which fulfilled their rights. By legal retaliation from the convict, in compliance with the Almighty’s saying: (And for you there is life in retaliation, O you of understanding, that you may become righteous).
