South24 Center and Friedrich Ebert conclude the training workshop on advanced investigative journalism

Today, Thursday, the South24 Center for News and Studies and the German Friedrich Ebert Foundation - Yemen office concluded the training workshop on advanced investigative journalism skills in the capital, Aden, which lasted for 6 days between May 18 and 23.
During the closing day, in the presence of the head of the Southern Journalists Syndicate, Aidroos Bahashwan, 19 investigative reporting ideas were discussed, worked on by 19 male and female journalists from various governorates of southern Yemen who came to Aden after winning the training opportunity from among more than 100 male and female journalists.
The director of the Friedrich Ebert Programs and the acting director of the non-resident office in Yemen, Mahmoud Qayyah, said that the German Foundation will discuss the idea of funding 5 investigations from among the projects proposed by the trainees to be published in the South24 Center for News and Studies.
Qayyah praised the commitment of the trainees and the presentation of investigative journalist Wajdi Al-Salmi, who trained during the workshop. He stressed the importance of investigative reporting in a turbulent country like Yemen, which suffers from corruption, the collapse of services, and political conflict.
The Regional Director of the South24 Center for News and Studies in Aden, Yaqoub Al-Sufyani, expressed his hope that this workshop will contribute to the production of southern investigative journalists capable of producing in-depth investigations that shed light on various important issues.
Al-Sufyani said that the South24 Center will ensure that the ideas of this workshop come to light, and will continue to support journalists in their plans to produce investigative reports. He also praised the partnership with Friedrich Ebert and expressed his aspiration for more bilateral cooperation.
During his speech, the head of the Southern Journalists and Media Syndicate, Aidroos Bahashwan, praised this training workshop and the efforts made by the South24 Center for News and Studies and the German Friedrich-Ebert Foundation in building and developing the capabilities of southern journalists.
Bahashwan confirmed that the Southern Journalists Syndicate will pay special attention to the journalists who were trained during the workshop, and will provide them with legal support to ensure the completion of the investigative reports that were nominated for this specific workshop.
The trainees received certificates of participation in the workshop, which included 48 hours of intensive training, a large part of which focused on practical application.
