The Transport and Communications Syndicate accuses the director of the Aden Transport Office of imposing “illegal” fees (statement)

The Executive Office of the General Union of Transport and Communications Workers accused the Director of the Transport Office in Aden of imposing fees, which he described as “illegal”, on the forms of travelers from Aden to other governorates.
The union confirmed in a statement of protest addressed to the Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, that “the traveler’s questionnaire is distributed free of charge according to a prior agreement, as part of the efforts aimed at organizing, improving and improving work in a way that achieves the safety of travelers.”
The Transport and Communications Syndicate denounced, in its statement, “The Director of the Transport Office, Nawras Barakat, violated all previous agreements and directives, most notably issuing the traveler’s form for free, organizing the random sorting work and including it in the official sorting in the governorate, and taking illegal measures aimed at... To obstruct the organization of union work and demand illegal fees under several names, and to not respond in any way to the efforts aimed at finding solutions and remedies that would contribute to resolving the existing problems in the transportation and taxi sector in accordance with the regulations, rules and laws in force.”
The union pointed out that it had made efforts and endeavors during the last period in this regard, out of its keenness to organize the work and conduct it in a normal manner... stressing that it had exhausted with the director of transportation all means and methods without achieving any benefit, according to its description.
She indicated that “Barakat” refused to receive a memorandum from the President of the General Federation of Southern Trade Unions, to form a committee composed of the leadership of the Federation and the Executive Office of the General Union, to solve the transportation problems, and did not respond to them.
The Transport and Communications Syndicate, at the end of its statement, called on the Minister of State - Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, to “take appropriate measures and measures against these irresponsible actions, and to stop the repeated and continuous violations by the director of the transport office in the governorate, which have caused harassment of traveling citizens and return... Their vehicles from the Rabat point, and not allowing them to travel to the governorates they are heading to.”
