A massive fire broke out today, Thursday, in the Al-Amana power station in the “Fawh” area in Hadramaut Governorate, southern Yemen.
The Electricity Corporation in Hadhramaut said that the fire, whose causes were not clear, consumed 8 generators and two fuel tanks, and led to a doubling of the hours of power outage in the city of Fuwah and its suburbs.
The corporation explained that the fire caused the Amana power generation station to stop working, which supplies the electricity corporation with 20 megawatts of purchased energy.
She added that the fire brigades were able to control the fire, but the damage was significant.
The Electricity Corporation called on the competent authorities to open an investigation into the causes of the fire, and to take the necessary measures to prevent its recurrence.
