European Union ambassadors conclude their visit to Aden

Today, the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Viñales, the French Ambassador, Catherine Corme-Cmon, the Netherlands Ambassador, Janet Sieben, and the German Ambassador, Hubert Jäger, concluded a joint visit to Aden.
The ambassadors met with Vice President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi and affirmed support for the Presidential Command Council and the Yemeni government. They also urged concerted efforts to address economic challenges and improve service delivery under extremely difficult circumstances. He called on the ambassadors to continue constructively engaging in UN-led peace efforts, which offer the best path towards a better future for Yemen.
The ambassadors also met with the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badhib, Minister of Finance, Salem bin Brik, Minister of Electricity, Mani’ bin Yameen, and Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Maqbi.
The ambassadors encouraged continued work to stabilize the economy, enhance public revenues, improve expenditure management, and provide basic services. The ambassadors stressed the importance of ensuring respect for basic rights and an enabling working environment for humanitarian and development actors assisting Yemenis.
The ambassadors also held a meeting with the presidency of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, who briefed the ambassadors on the Commission’s work in supporting national unity and reconciliation.
The European Union ambassadors affirmed the European Union's firm support for the work of the UN Special Envoy towards a comprehensive and just political settlement in Yemen.
