About 10 megawatts of the capacity of the power station in the city of Mukalla, “located in the radio transmission yard,” was out of readiness out of 20 megawatts as a result of a fire that hit the station this afternoon.
A number of generators were exposed to various damages, out of 24 generators included in the station, which are connected to the city’s general electricity network.
The Governor of Hadhramaut, Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi, visited the station’s site in the radio transmission area in Fuwa this afternoon, inspecting the damage to the generators, and directing the formation of a committee headed by the Governor’s Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, Engineer Amin Barzeeq, whose membership includes the General Administration of Electricity and the Criminal Investigation Department of the Administration. Security, managers of the purchased energy, the secretariat company and station, and military protection at the station site, stressing the speed of research into the causes of the accident and submitting the results to the leadership of the local authority in the governorate.
The governor was accompanied by the governor’s deputy for technical affairs, Engineer Amin Barzeq, the director of the criminal investigation department, Colonel Hani Bashkil, and the director of the energy purchasing department at the Electricity Corporation, Mustafa Al-Aidarous.
