50 African migrants died off the coast of Shabwa

At least 50 African migrants died at midnight on Monday, drowning, including women and children, and dozens survived after a boat carrying them capsized off the coast of Shabwa Governorate.
While the fate of others is still unknown, they were on a boat coming from the port of Bandar Qasim Basaso in Somalia, heading towards Yemen in illegal immigration.
Local sources said that the boat was carrying 250 African migrants, by African smugglers.
The fishermen rescued a large number of migrants and buried the victims in Al-Ain cemetery in Radum District.
Shabwa Governorate witnesses the arrival of hundreds of African migrants every week coming from Ethiopia via Somalia on boats of smugglers from Somalia.
