Document: Nishtun Port in Mahra complains of an unjustified withdrawal of $2 million from its account at the Central Bank

In an official letter addressed to the Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Yemen Arabian Sea Ports Corporation, the Director General of Nishtun Port in Al-Mahra Governorate, Saeed Asad Chris, expressed his dissatisfaction with the withdrawal of an amount of 2 million US dollars from the port’s account at the Central Bank of the Governorate Branch without his or her knowledge. His approval.
The letter stated that the account statement for May 2024 showed the transfer of the amount on May 30, 2024, which caused a significant shortage in the institution’s funds.
The Foundation confirmed that it is an independent entity that funds all its projects and the salaries of its employees from this account, and does not receive any government support.
He added that the Foundation is currently seeking to withdraw funds to implement vital projects during the current year, including the construction of the Nishtun Port administration building, the supply, installation and maintenance of surveillance cameras for the port, in addition to the solar energy system installation project. Given the importance of these projects, the Foundation demands that the amount be returned to its account.
He appealed to address the Director of the Central Bank and His Excellency the Minister of Transport to cooperate in returning the amount.
