At least 5 people were killed and more than 10 others were seriously injured this evening, in a horrific crime that shook the Yemeni governorate of Taiz. 

According to local sources, a gunman detonated a bomb on board a bus carrying passengers on Haijat al-Abd Road, located north of Lahj Governorate.

This heinous crime resulted in the death of the gunman who detonated the bomb, in addition to 5 other people among the passengers, while more than 10 others were seriously injured.

The motives for this horrific crime remain mysterious until now, while the security authorities have opened an investigation to uncover its circumstances and determine the identity of the accused.

For years, Taiz Governorate has witnessed an armed conflict between the Yemeni government forces and the Houthis, which led to many crimes and violations, the closure of roads, and the spread of armed men to take taxes by force.
