Washington imposes sanctions on 9 entities and individuals linked to the Houthi arms purchasing networks

The United States of America announced the imposition of new sanctions targeting those linked to the arms purchasing networks of the Houthi group in Yemen, which they use to carry out attacks against commercial ships.
The US State Department said in a statement attributed to the official spokesman: Matthew Miller, on Monday, said that the United States included three individuals and six entities on the sanctions list, due to their association with arms purchasing networks for the Houthi group.
Miller added that the sanctions also included one cargo ship owned by one of these entities, which facilitated the shipment of goods, the sale of which provides an important funding source for the Houthis to purchase weapons.
The US State Department spokesman explained that these measures target “key actors, including some based in China, that have enabled the Houthi forces to generate revenues and obtain a range of materials necessary to manufacture advanced weapons that they use to launch ongoing terrorist attacks against interests.” America and its allies."
Miller pointed out that the Houthi group, since November 2023, has continued to threaten freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, and to carry out attacks “recklessly” against unarmed commercial ships that obstruct the movement of trade in one of the most important vital waterways in the world.< /p>
He stressed his country's commitment to using all available tools to obstruct the flow of weapons and military equipment to Yemen, "which enables the Houthis to launch these terrorist attacks."
