The Endowments and Guidance Office in the capital, Aden, announced today, Saturday, the arrest of the imam and preacher of the Al-Shafi’i Mosque in Al-Mudara, following his Friday sermon yesterday, in which he attacked one of the Palestinian factions.
The office said, in a statement, that it issued an order to suspend the imam, due to his “inciting sedition and violating the directives of the Endowments Office not to open political, sectarian, or partisan disputes.”
In his sermon yesterday, Friday, the preacher of the Al-Shafi’i Mosque in the Al-Mamdara area in Aden attacked the Palestinian Hamas movement, accusing it of loyalty to Iran.
The sermon caused a state of dissatisfaction and anger among some of the worshipers, who took the imam down from the pulpit and tried to attack him, had it not been for the intervention of other worshipers who protected him and removed him from the mosque.
Then one of the young men led the prayer without completing the sermon.
