Muscat (Aden Al-Ghad) Special:
New negotiations to exchange prisoners between the legitimate government and the Houthi militias began in the Omani capital, Muscat, on Sunday, under the supervision of the United Nations.
Commenting on this start, the official spokesman for the government delegation in the negotiations for prisoners and abductees, a member of the negotiating delegation, Majid Fadael, said, “The negotiations supervised by the United Nations regarding prisoners and abductees have just begun in the Omani capital, Muscat, and we are hopeful that positive results will be achieved.”
Fadael added: “Our basic demand as a government team is the total release of prisoners and abductees without discrimination on the basis of all for all.”
He continued, “We have clear and explicit directives from our political leadership regarding this, and that the government delegation must deal with full responsibility and commitment to this humanitarian file, and that the hidden political figure, Muhammad Qahtan, should not be bypassed in any way, so that he is at the head of any exchange deal.”
Mohammed Qahtan is a prominent leader in the Yemeni Islah Party, and one of 4 people included in UN Security Council Resolution 2216 of 2015, which obligates the Houthi group to release them.
