The Public Prosecutor directs a re-investigation into the death of a young man after he was tortured by Ma’rib security forces

Official documents revealed instructions from the Public Prosecutor to the judicial authorities in Ma’rib Governorate to re-investigate the death of a young man days after his arrest by security in the governorate.
The Public Prosecutor directed the Ma’rib Governorate Appeals Prosecution to return the case file in which the Director of Security of the City Directorate - Ma’rib and 9 of his members were accused of detaining the young man / Bakil Dabwan Abdul Salam Muhammad, “and the assault leading to death.”
The Public Prosecutor’s directives came after the decision issued by the Ma’rib Appeals Prosecution Prosecution, 6 months after the incident, that there was no reason “to file a criminal case because the crime was not proven in the incidents of torture and coercion to confess.”
This is what the Public Prosecutor objected to in his letter, as he confirmed the lack of a serious investigation into the facts despite the proven torture of the victim, which was proven by the forensic medical report, which resulted in the young man suffering from injuries and complications that led to paralysis and kidney failure, which ultimately led to his death.

The Public Prosecutor expressed his surprise at the Ma’rib Prosecution’s office taking testimonies from those accused of the incident to prove allegations that the victim’s arrest from the street was because he was “crazy,” and the allegations that the injuries on the victim’s body were old and he was the one who caused them, while the forensic report proves that they were Modern.
The Public Prosecutor also expressed his surprise at the lack of investigation into the incident and reasons for detaining the victim for more than two weeks at the police station without any legal reasons for this detention, directing the Ma’rib Prosecution Office to return the case file to it to complete it in accordance with these observations and complete the investigation before final disposition of the incident.
The young man / Bakil Dabwan Abdul Salam Muhammad died in early October of last year in Ma’rib General Hospital, after he was transferred to the hospital by security forces who arrested him from the street for about 14 days, without any reasons.
Sources close to the young man’s family denied the security allegations in Marib that he was suffering from a psychological condition, explaining that he arrived in the city more than a year ago to bury his brother who was martyred in the ranks of the National Army and remained to follow up on his salary in addition to following up on the case of another relative of his who was captured. At the hands of the Houthi militia.
Adding that his body is still in the morgue of the Marib Hospital Authority to this day and that his family refuses to bury it until justice is achieved in his case, especially since those accused in the case were released early and returned to carrying out their work normally, calling on the leadership of the Presidential Command Council and the government to oblige the Marib authorities to return Investigate the case and hold the accused accountable.
