On Monday, the Eritrean authorities released 55 Yemeni fishermen, who had been detained for more than a year.
Mujahid Al-Qab, head of the Rasd Foundation for Rights and Freedoms, confirmed that the Eritrean authorities had arrested fishermen in Yemeni territorial waters, detained them in prisons, and used them in hard labor.
Al-Qab added that the Eritrean authorities kept 45 other fishermen in the Terma Island camp, without giving reasons.
The released fishermen expressed their happiness at returning to their homeland, after long suffering in Eritrean prisons.
