America warns its citizens against traveling to Yemen

The US government renewed its warning to its citizens, including those of Yemeni origin, against traveling to Yemen due to the increasing security risks.
The US State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs advised in a statement against travel due to terrorist threats, civil unrest, crimes, landmines, and kidnapping.
The statement indicated that terrorist groups, including ISIS, are planning to carry out attacks in Al-Bayda, Abyan, and Shabwa governorates.
He added that the unrest and weakness of government institutions increase the risks of targeting foreigners and employees of foreign organizations,
He stressed that American citizens in Yemen, especially those of Yemeni origin, are vulnerable to kidnapping and forced marriage.
The statement explained that the war that broke out in 2015 made the country unsafe for foreigners, especially after the embassies were evacuated from the capital, Sanaa.
He noted that the Houthis controlling the hijacked capital, Sanaa, are detaining American citizens, including citizens of Yemeni nationality, who have faced difficulty, including long delays, when trying to leave the country.
