Badib: Yemen is on the cusp of a very dangerous stage

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Waed Badib, said, “Yemen stands on the cusp of a very dangerous stage, ten years after the terrorist Houthi militia’s coup against legitimacy and the state and its prolongation of the war that destroyed infrastructure and people.”
This came in a speech delivered by the Republic of Yemen, on Monday, at the Political Forum on Sustainable Development currently held at the United Nations building in New York City, USA, during the period 8-17 of this month of July.
Minister Badib pointed out that, by prolonging the conflict, the militias destroyed the aspirations of a state seeking peace and development and the dreams of a generous people who yearn for development, freedom, and a state of order and law and look forward to a future in which they enjoy stability, prosperity, and peace and contribute to maintaining international peace and security.
He added, "Despite some understandings regarding the humanitarian issue and the kidnappers, the situation is still fragile, ranging between war and peace, and the terrorist Houthi militias have moved towards waging a war on the national economy by striking oil export ports with their drones, which has deprived the country of investing this vital resource in human development." And improve his livelihood, and even violated all international conventions, customs and laws, and here he is today threatening the movement of ships and international trade in the Red Sea and causing the global economy huge losses in trade and investment.”
The Minister of Planning pointed out that the first voluntary report submitted by our country this year on the sustainable development goals, which was prepared with broad participation from stakeholders, reflected Yemen’s commitment to continuing to achieve the sustainable development goals and not leaving anyone behind despite the difficulties.
Minister Badib touched on the content of the report, which clearly demonstrated the reality of the catastrophic economic, humanitarian and social conditions left by the Houthi militia war, its violations and crimes, which hindered and continue to hinder progress in achieving the sustainable development goals.
He stressed that the government gives the issue of comprehensive and sustainable peace its greatest attention and supports the efforts of the United Nations and regional and international efforts in a way that puts an end to war and conflict, restores the state’s identity and institutions, and contributes with the international community to securing international shipping traffic, global peace and economic prosperity... stressing the importance of The Future Summit prioritizes the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda by translating the commitments agreed upon during the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals Summit Political Declaration into concrete actions that fully support developing countries in their efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
