Brother Awad Muhammad bin Al-Wazir, Governor of Shabwa Governorate and Chairman of the Local Council, inaugurated this morning at Al-Khalifi Stadium in the city of Ataq, the launch of the Fourth Festival of Heritage and Arts in Shabwa Governorate, with various carnival, heritage and artistic performances.
At the festival, which was attended by Dr. Tawfiq Basarda, President of Shabwa University, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Najib Saeed Thabet, Abd Rabbuh Hashla Nasser, Secretary-General of the Shabwa Local Council, musician Ahmed bin Goudal, Director-General of the Aden Culture Office, Professor Maher bin Saleh, Director-General of the Hadramaut Culture Office, and governorate representatives and leaders. After that, the heritage and artistic parades began with a show by the cavalry and the artistic band of the Culture Office in the governorate and the directorates. The various heritage and artistic folklore that the Shabwa Governorate abounds in were reviewed.

After the carnival parade ended, Brother Awad Muhammad bin Al-Wazir, Governor of the Governorate, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Najib Thabet, cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the intellectual, cultural, artistic and heritage exhibitions that were held in the halls of the Poet Yaslam Bin Ali Cultural Centre, which contained a book and photo exhibition and an exhibition of various folklore tools. Its types, in addition to showcasing the creativity and skills of young talents of the people of the governorate in a number of arts.
The Governor Bin Al-Wazir and his accompanying delegation toured the halls of the permanent exhibition of popular heritage, photographs, plastic arts, the heritage village and the pillars of popular crafts.
During his inspection visit, Governor Bin Al-Wazir stressed the great importance of launching the Heritage and Arts Festival, which represents the restoration of the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Shabwa Governorate and contributes to highlighting the heritage and civilization of Shabwa internally and externally.
Governor Bin Al-Wazir explained that this festival is not only about heritage and art, but rather represents a message to spread awareness among young people to introduce their cultural identity and the best way to confront foreign cultures and ideas by providing them with the opportunity to display their creativity and talents, pay attention to them, and have them adopted by the various concerned parties.
Governor Bin Al-Wazir praised the good organization and performance of the various organizing committees of the festival, stressing the local authority’s continued interest and support for such activities in various fields.
It is worth noting that the festival’s activities will continue over the next three days and will include a number of heritage, cultural and artistic events and activities, the most important of which are Shabwaniya samra, theatrical performances, poetry mornings and intellectual lectures, and will conclude with a large speech, artistic and honorary ceremony on the last days of the festival.
