An expanded meeting of the Socotra Authority with Al-Maqadma, notables and notables and issuing a decision to form committees to structure Al-Maqadma

An expanded meeting was held in the city of Hadiboh, the capital of the Socotra Archipelago Governorate, with the local authority with Al-Maqadma, notables, and notables, under the title, “Empowering Al-Maqadma, notables, and notables from their tribal, social, and cultural role in Socotra affairs, away from partisan agendas.” The meeting discussed the importance of empowering the Muqaddam, notables, and notables to play their vital role in society, with the aim of restoring the role of the Muqaddam to represent his tribe across historical extensions, and to correct the course in the face of foreign names in Socotra society.
In his speech during the meeting, the Governor of Socotra, Engineer Raafat Al-Thaqli, stressed that Socotra is for all its people, stressing the importance of empowering the Muqaddimah, notables and notables from their tribal, social and cultural role to achieve the renaissance of Socotra and build a unified thought away from partisan agendas and narrow interests. Al-Thaqali stressed the need to preserve the cultural and social heritage of the archipelago, stressing the importance of concerted efforts and the participation of the Muqaddimah, notables and notables in decision-making and public affairs in society.
The meeting witnessed multiple interventions that stressed the necessity of strengthening the role of the tribe in managing its affairs and enhancing class unity and cooperation among the components of Socotra society to achieve sustainable development and prosperity for the archipelago.
In a related context, the Governor of Socotra issued Administrative Decision No. (9) of 2024 AD regarding the formation of two committees, a supervisory and a subsidiary, to follow up on the structure of the administration of the Socotra Archipelago Governorate. According to the decision, Sultan Ali bin Issa Al Afrar chairs the supervisory committee, while Muhammad Dooley Abdullah chairs the subcommittee, provided that the two committees include other members to work on implementing the tasks assigned to them starting from the date of issuance of the decision.
