The Egyptian government confirms that it is considering operating a direct flight between Cairo and Sanaa

The Egyptian government confirmed that it is studying the possibility of restarting a direct flight between Cairo and Sanaa, which is under the control of the Houthi group, according to the recent agreement between the Yemeni government and the group.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement on Tuesday: “We confirm that we will continue studying opportunities to operate a direct flight line between Cairo and Sanaa, in accordance with relevant considerations and procedures, including technical and logistical ones.”
The statement welcomed the announcement of the UN envoy to Yemen; Hans Grundberg, reaching an agreement between the Yemeni government and the Houthis to resolve the chronic crisis in the country, stressing “Egypt’s full support for all regional and international efforts in this regard.”
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed its aspiration that the agreement would represent “an introduction to the path to reaching a comprehensive settlement of the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the agreed upon terms of reference and decisions, including Security Council Resolution No. 2216, and in a way that meets the aspirations of the Yemenis.”
The UN Special Envoy to Yemen had announced earlier today that the Yemeni government and the Houthi group had agreed on measures to reduce the economic and banking escalation and expand direct flights between Sanaa to include Cairo and India.
The agreement included “cancelling recent decisions and procedures against banks on both sides and stopping any similar decisions or procedures in the future, resuming Yemenia Airlines flights between Sana’a and Jordan, increasing the number of its flights to three daily, and operating flights to Cairo and India daily or as needed.”
