The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, His Eminence Judge Mohsen Yahya Taleb, met today in the capital, Aden, with the team of the National Committee to Investigate Alleged Human Rights Violations.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the Council, Judge Dr. Ali Atboush, Chairman of the Judicial Council, heard from the Chairman of the National Investigation Committee, Judge Ahmed Saeed Al-Maflhi, an explanation about the visits carried out by the committee to detention centers in the liberated governorates and the extent of those centers’ compliance with human rights standards.
The meeting discussed human rights developments and the level of coordination and cooperation between the judiciary and the National Commission of Inquiry to ensure justice and protection of citizens’ rights.
The head of the National Commission of Inquiry also raised the complaints of some detainees about the legal period they spent in military and civilian detention centers.
The President of the Judicial Council praised the efforts made by the National Investigation Committee through field visits to inspect the conditions of prisons and detention centers and to closely examine the conditions of detainees, stressing the keenness of the Supreme Judicial Council on the necessity of quickly deciding all cases and referring them to prosecutors and courts to reduce overcrowding in prisons and centers. Detention.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the President of the Judicial Council, Judge Ghaleb Farid, and on behalf of the National Investigation Committee, Judge Jihad Abdul Rasoul, Judge Nasser Al-Awdhali, Judge Hizam Al-Muraisi, and Judge Dhia Khaled Muhairz.
