The Commander of the Security Belt Forces in Aden, Brigadier General Jalal Al-Rubaie, denied today, Wednesday, the recruitment of children into the ranks of his forces, stressing the Security Belt Forces’ keenness to prevent any recruitment operations of children, and to respect international humanitarian law.
Al-Rubaie explained that the Belt Forces were established with the aim of protecting society, combating terrorism, drugs, and crime in all its forms, as well as establishing the foundations of security and stability.
The members of the Joint Technical Committee to Prevent Child Recruitment, in partnership with UNICEF, praised the efforts of the Security Belt Forces in this regard, and stressed the importance of creating an effective partnership between the two parties.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed on the necessity of creating communication units on child recruitment operations, holding a number of awareness-raising workshops and seminars, as well as developing an action plan for the committee, with the aim of carrying out field visits to all the security belt sector.
