15 people were killed, including missing persons, while dozens of homes were damaged as a result of the heavy rains and torrential rains that occurred in the Maqbanah District, west of Taiz, at the end of last week. It led to the death and loss of 15 people and the sweeping away of agricultural lands, roads, property, palm trees and mangoes.
She indicated that 120 families were affected as a result of the damage to their homes, while the floods buried 87 hand wells, damaged two artesian wells, and swept away 50 pumps and six solar energy systems designated for the agricultural sector.
It pointed out that six water projects, 12 commercial stores and a mosque were damaged, 25 cars and 32 motorcycles were swept away, 65 heads of livestock died and more than 500 meters of pipes belonging to the Rural Water Projects Authority branch were lost.
According to a report by the Works Office in Taiz Under the control of the Houthi militia, the floods witnessed by the Maqbanah District included the isolation of “Al-Karabda, Bani Saif, Al-Sawaghin, Muharraqa, Baydha, and Al-Akhdoo’ above and below,” and led to damage that included most of the main and secondary roads, agricultural lands, water resources from underground and surface wells, and citizens’ property.
And last Thursday, The districts of Maqbana and Sharaab al-Runa witnessed unprecedented rains, which led to widespread and significant damage to lives, property, agricultural lands, trees, and livestock.
