One person was killed, and 3 others were injured, on Sunday, as a result of a storm accompanied by heavy rain that struck the city of Ma’rib, northern Yemen.
Ma’rib General Hospital (government) stated, in a statement seen by Anadolu’s correspondent, that “the hospital’s emergency department received one death and three injured people as a result of the severe storms that struck the city,” without further details.
In the same context, residents said, “A storm accompanied by heavy rain struck the city of Ma’rib this morning (Sunday), causing damage to the electricity network and the tents of the displaced.”
During the past few days, torrential rains struck several governorates, especially Hodeidah, Taiz, and Hajjah (west), leading to the death of 45 people and the loss of 12 others, in addition to the displacement of thousands and the damage of more than 93 thousand, according to statistics issued Thursday evening by the Yemen Red Crescent Society. .
The government also sent, on Thursday, an “urgent distress call” to international donors to help it confront the damage caused by floods that killed dozens of people and displaced thousands of families.
For days, the amount of heavy rain has increased in several governorates, causing human losses and major damage.
