The meeting addressed the latest developments in relief efforts in the governorates of Taiz, Hajjah and Hodeidah, which were recently struck by a heavy rain wave and torrential torrential rains, leaving dozens of victims and massive destruction to public and private property.
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, presented a brief report on the developments of the natural disaster, the local relief efforts of the National Resistance Forces, and coordinated communications with local authorities and government institutions to enhance access to all those affected, and rehabilitate the destroyed services and infrastructure.
p>The meeting heard briefings from the governors of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, and Hodeidah, Dr. Al-Hassan Taher, and Hajjah Abdul Karim Al-Sunaini, regarding preliminary estimates of the damage, and the human and material losses caused by climate change in the three governorates.
The initial report indicated the destruction of more than 1,500 homes for displaced people, and severe damage to public and private property in the districts of Hays and Al-Khawkhah in Hodeidah Governorate.
The water network, shelter areas, and main roads in the Midi, Haradh, Hiran, and Abs districts of Hajjah Governorate were also damaged.
In Taiz Governorate, torrential floods in the Maqbana District destroyed irrigation canals, large areas of agricultural holdings, and water wells, in addition to severe damage to asphalt roads and agricultural lands between the Taiz and Hodeidah Governorates through the Mokha District.
The Commander of the Fifth Military Region, Major General Yahya Salah, also spoke about the course of humanitarian aid efforts and the additional requirements to mitigate the impact of the disaster.
The briefings noted the interventions of the King Salman Centre, which included relief shipments of more than 1,200 tents, more than 1,000 shelter bags, and 5,535 food baskets to the liberated districts of Hajjah Governorate.
The meeting approved emergency relief and development interventions under the supervision of a member of the Presidential Command Council, Brigadier General Tariq Saleh, and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant government agencies to mobilize regional and international support, including ways to push the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime to facilitate the arrival of in-kind and material aid to the areas under control. her by force.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the urgent relief response by our brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, and their expected development interventions to alleviate the suffering of citizens in all the affected areas.
