Five citizens, including two women, died and were injured by separate thunderbolts in a number of Yemeni governorates.
Local sources said that a woman died yesterday evening, as a result of being struck by a thunderbolt in the Al-Ahjul Al-Afwal isolation in Jabal Al-Mahwit District, Al-Mahwit Governorate.
The sources explained that the lightning strike struck the home of the citizen, “Ali Muhammad Shui Al-Dahmsi,” and claimed the life of his 25-year-old wife.
In Sana'a Governorate, a woman died as a result of a thunderbolt that struck Mount Masar in the "Manakha" district, and claimed the life of the wife of a citizen named "Muhammad Al-Borai."
A citizen named “Youssef Abdullah Dahesh Al-Nahmi” also died due to a thunderbolt, and his son suffered various burns as a result of a thunderbolt in the “Al-Hijra” village in the Manakhah District in Sana’a.
In another incident, a young man from the “Beit al-Quraysh” family died in the village of “Bani Khattab” in the Manakhah District, west of Sana’a, while a young man named Ahmed bin Ahmed Yahya al-Shami died due to a thunderbolt in the Hajjah Governorate, northwest of the country.
During the past weeks, more than 55 people, including women and children, died and were injured, according to unofficial statistics, as a result of thunderbolts in various governorates, in light of a rainy spell the country is witnessing.
