The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center launched today, Monday, the distribution of emergency shelter and food aid to those affected by torrents and floods in Ma’rib Governorate.
During the inauguration, the Undersecretary of Ma’rib Governorate, Dr. Abd Rabbuh Muftah, praised the rapid intervention of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid to provide relief to families affected by the floods, noting that the emergency aid will contribute to alleviating the suffering of the afflicted families.
For his part, the Director of the Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons’ Camps in Ma’rib, Mr. Saif Muthana, said that the floods resulted in thousands of families being completely and partially damaged, offering his thanks to the King Salman Relief Center for its urgent response to those affected.
The intervention, which is implemented through the local partner, the Al-Khair Coalition for Humanitarian Relief, includes the distribution of 400 tents and 430 shelter bags, and the distribution of food aid to 1,842 families, in addition to the periodic distribution of food aid to 6,207 families within the life-saving food aid project.
The intervention comes in response to calls from the authorities in the governorate to provide relief to those affected, and to reduce the suffering of families affected by the torrential floods.
The rains and torrential rains that Marib Governorate witnessed yesterday, Sunday, caused human losses, swept away the homes of displaced people, and caused massive damage to infrastructure, in addition to property losses.
The inauguration was attended by Mr. Muhammad Al-Harazi, Acting Director of the City Directorate, Dr. Lutf Al-Ghubari, the Urgent Relief Coordinator at the King Salman Relief Center office in Ma’rib, and Mr. Mohsen Al-Hadrami, Director of the Al-Khair Relief Coalition office in Ma’rib.
