A number of students from Aden Governorate schools (Al-Bayhani, Al-Jalaa, Qataban, and Al-Fath) made a reconnaissance visit to the landmarks of the Sira District, within the framework of school visits and trips organized by the Department of Women and Children in the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council and in coordination with the local leadership of the Sira Transitional Council. They visited a landmark Al-Tawila Historical Cisterns, and they listened to researcher Arslan Abu Habib to a detailed explanation of the history of Aden’s cisterns, their construction, their number, and their importance in preserving and storing rainwater and protecting the city of Aden from drowning as a result of the strong torrents descending from the summit of Mount Shamsan.
After that, the students of those schools visited the Maswat Children’s Library and learned about the collection of valuable books contained in the library. At the end of the trip, the school students visited the Research and Studies Center in (Sultan’s Palace), where they learned from researcher Hussein Zaid and Salah Bin Brik about the most important references, books and documents present in the center, which are considered a historical and cultural reference. For researchers and students in their postgraduate studies and research.
The students were accompanied on this exploratory trip by Yasmine Musaed Hamid, Head of the Women and Children’s Department in the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council, Colonel Muhammad Hussein Jarallah, Transitional Head of Sira Directorate, and a number of female teachers in those schools.
