The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center “Masam” project to clear Yemeni lands of mines during the third week of August 2024 was able to remove 1,139 mines in various regions of Yemen, including 13 anti-personnel mines, 56 anti-tank mines, and 1,057 Unexploded ordnance and 13 explosive devices.
The “Masam” team was also able to remove one anti-tank mine, 310 unexploded ordnance, and 3 explosive devices in Aden Governorate, and remove one anti-personnel mine in the Hajr District of Al-Dhalea Governorate. In Al-Hudaydah Governorate, it removed 7 anti-tank mines in the Hays District, and removed Two anti-personnel mines, two anti-tank mines, and 4 unexploded ordnance in Al-Khawkhah District. In Lahj Governorate, the team was able to remove 8 unexploded ordnance in Al-Waht District, and 1 unexploded ordnance in Al-Mudaraba District. In Ma’rib Governorate, the team was able to remove one unexploded ordnance in Al-Waht District. Raghwan, and removed 40 anti-tank mines and 600 unexploded ordnance in Ma’rib District.
The “Masam” team was able to remove one anti-tank mine and 3 explosive devices in Usaylan District in Shabwa Governorate. The team in Taiz Governorate was also able to remove 5 anti-personnel mines and 7 unexploded ordnance in Dhubab District, and 5 anti-personnel mines and 5 mines. Anti-tank weapons, 126 unexploded ordnance, and 7 explosive devices in Sabr district.
This brings the number of mines removed during the month of August to 2,529 mines, bringing the number of mines removed since the beginning of the “Masam” project until now to 455,827 mines that were planted randomly in various Yemeni lands to claim more innocent victims from children, women and the elderly.
