Australia announces assuming command of the Joint Task Force in the Red Sea, starting in October

Australia will assume command of a joint maritime task force in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden from October, the Australian Department of Defense said on Friday.
Combined Maritime Forces Combined Task Force 153 was established in April 2022 to focus on maritime security in the region.
It was reinforced in December to deal with Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
