Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Abdul Rahman Al-Muharrami, met this Saturday morning with the Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, to discuss the latest developments in the situation in Yemen, and the efforts made to achieve peace, in addition to regional and international developments.
The meeting, which was held at the Yemeni embassy in Abu Dhabi and was attended by the Yemeni ambassador to the UAE, His Excellency Ambassador Fahd Al-Menhali, reviewed a number of economic and service challenges that citizens face as a result of the continued terrorist practices of the Houthi militia, its negative effects on international shipping lines, and the harm it has caused. A worsening of living conditions. In this context, Al-Muharrami stressed the importance of supporting the legitimate government in restoring state institutions, carrying out further economic and administrative reforms, in addition to providing basic services for citizens.
On the political level, Al-Muharrami discussed with the American ambassador the efforts led by the United Nations to revive the political process with the aim of ending the conflict in Yemen and bringing peace to the region, in light of the continued Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab and its effects on the humanitarian situation.
During the meeting, Al-Muharrami renewed the support of the Presidential Leadership Council for regional and international efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace, praising the support provided by the United States of America to the Leadership Council and the government in this direction.
Al-Muharrami also called on the international community to take more resolute measures to deter the Houthi militia, and to confront its attempts aimed at thwarting efforts to end the war and bring peace to the region.
For his part, Ambassador Fagin renewed his country's government's commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the government in order to enable them to carry out the tasks assigned to them towards the citizens. Emphasizing the United States’ position rejecting the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and emphasizing Washington’s keenness to secure international shipping lines, and its support for regional and international efforts to bring peace to our country.
