A recent UN report revealed that the food insecurity crisis in Yemen has reached record levels, as a result of continued economic deterioration, lack of income opportunities, and lack of funding.
The World Food Program (WFP) indicated in its new report last July that the food security situation in Yemen continues to deteriorate, with high levels of severe food deprivation throughout the country.
The report indicated that 17 million Yemenis suffer from food insecurity in the third and fourth stages of the Integrated Interim Classification of Food Security, including 6.1 million in the emergency stage.
The data also showed that 3.5 million people across Yemen suffer from acute malnutrition.
Yemen has been suffering from a bloody war for a decade, which has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the country, with about two-thirds of the population needing assistance to survive, according to United Nations reports.
